Helpful Hints For Installing Your Cordless Speakers

Are you trying to install a new home theater system or some outdoor wireless speakers? The easiest way is to hire a competent installer to assist you. Then again, you may contemplate doing the setup yourself. There are a few problems which are regularly made. I will present a number of guidelines to help make your installation a snap.

Your home theater system is going to usually come with 5 or 7 speakers - 1 main loudspeaker, 2 front speakers, 2 rears in addition to 2 sides (in case of a 7.1 system) and a subwoofer. It also includes a central component. This element will drive every one of your speakers. This main element is also known as surround sound receiver or amplifier. It is the main hub of your home theater system.

Place this receiver in a place which minimizes the loudspeaker cable run to every loudspeaker. Pick a location that is not far away from your audio source or TV because you are going to need to connect the receiver to your source.

Connecting the receiver to power as well as to your television set or DVD is pretty clear-cut. Many modern TVs include an optical output which connects straight to your receiver via a fiberoptical cord. Connecting your satellite speakers takes a little bit more work though.

You won't require as much loudspeaker cable if your loudspeakers are cordless. Some packages come with all-wireless loudspeakers as others only contain wireless rear speakers. For all other speakers, begin by measuring how much loudspeaker cable you require. You might want to add some extra length for safety. In many cases, you will not be able to run the cable in a straight line to your speakers. You might need to bear in mind carpets, furniture and so on. Thus make sure you include all of these additional twists in your calculation. If you are planning to drive a lot of power to your loudspeakers then be sure you select a cable that is thick enough to cope with the current flow. Your woofer generally will be an active woofer. This means that it is going to accept a low-level audio signal. You can connect your woofer through an RCA cable.

The satellite speakers each attach by a speaker terminal which is normally color coded in order to help ensure proper polarity. Most loudspeaker cable is going to show one strand in a different color. This is crucial because it will help ensure the right polarity of the loudspeaker terminal connection. Merely connect the different-color strand to the speaker terminal that is colored. In the same way, every speaker output of your surround receiver is color coded. Whilst connecting the cord to your receiver, watch the right polarity once more. This will keep all of your speakers in phase.

Wireless speakers normally need to do some audio buffering during the transmission to cope with wireless interference. This results in a small delay while the signal is transmitted. This delay is also referred to as latency and should be taken into consideration during your set up. Generally the latency ranges between 1 and 20 ms. For best effect, it is optimum if all of the loudspeakers are in sync. If you have cordless rears then the audio will by somewhat out of sync with your remaining loudspeakers. To keep all loudspeakers in sync you are going to need to tweak the receiver to delay the audio going to your wired speakers.

Check with the maker if your surround receiver can be set to delay the signal of particular channels. If you are using cordless rears, you want to set the front-speaker and side-speaker channels to delay the audio. Home theater systems that were not intended for cordless rear speakers might not have this ability. In this case you may want to look for a wireless speaker kit which has very low latency, ideally less than one ms. This will keep all of your speakers in perfect sync.
