What would I need to make a professional portable recording studio?
I want to be able to take my studio to school with me to make beats in my spare time I don't need a microphone or anything like that I just need to make my beats sound professional
Get yourself a decent laptop. This can be an Apple or PC which ever you are most comfortable using. Get yourself a copy of Propellerheads Reason software. This is a great package, because it contains everything thing you need to make instrumentals, and will teach you the fundamentals of how a recording studio works. You will also need a decent host powered controller keyboard. The Axiom and Oxygen8 25 keys by M-Audio are really good and the perfect size to drop in a bag. Last but definitly not least, you will need a good pair of headphones. iPod style plugs won't do, you need something that will give a flat, uncoloured sound. I use AKG's, but for this I would suggest going to a studio equipment store and asking to listen to different pairs. Take a piece of music you like and are familiar with, and pick the ones that sound the best. But bear in mind that more expensive does not always mean better, and try to avoid gimmicks like bass boost and noise cancelling features.
You shouldn't need more than this and your talent to make clean professional sounding tracks. Be wary of anybody that says you need to buy more big expensive kit before you know that you are truly ready and have a need for it.

storage devices at the Consumer Electronics Show on Monday. The company
unveiled the Slim 3.0 USB drive and the SSD pocket-knife and thumb-drive
