Back in high school, I was in my ASL (American Sign Language) class and the teacher confiscated my music manuscript book because he caught me writing music. I did write a lot of songs that week, lol. Was it kind of stupid for him to take my music book away, even though writing music is not "bad"?

Well the teacher probably has the right to confiscate it but it should be returned to you at some point...the school cannot seize and "own" (dispose of, keep) your property unless it was actually something illegal. They should have given it to your parent or returned it to you when you left the school.
