Mono?
Get any good pair of stereo headphones (Grado Labs SR60's for open back or Sony MDR V6 for closed back - each about $70) then use a stereo to mono adapter (about $4 at RS). The adapter will route the mono signal to both earpieces. You can also use the headphones without the adapter, for regular stereo listening.
