Care Free Care: How You Can Maintain Beautiful Landscaping With Your Boxwoods
Boxwoods accent well to most any gardens and landscapes having a formal appeal. They can be sheared and shaped into just about any shape you can imagine. Boxes are excellent, hardy shrubs in gardens that keep their vibrant green all year - even in the bitter cold north. It's not a secret that you will have some maintaining to do with your boxwoods. Keep your boxwood's looking great all year with these few simple steps:
1. Avoid a mix and match boxwood hedge. If you have a boxwood hedge that needs replacement it is totally possible to have issue finding the exact same replacement to what you already got. For this scenario, look for a variation with a similarity in the branch. Just like with flowers, there are a variety of choices and what looks good together can vary, so examine what the green house has, see what looks good together and make your decisions accordingly. Otherwise you will end up with some very quick growing boxes that are lime green and some slow growers that are dark green and it will look like a mix and match nightmare!
2. During development of your landscaping you'll be best of doing a little studying up on finding the best boxwood for your zone. It's best to find the flourishing boxes that are more resistant to disease and also have a higher tolerance for drought conditions.Northern climates are great for Korean Boxwoods because this variety is unyielding to shrubbery disease.
3. Your spring clean-up and maintenance for boxwood's starts with the addition of a 1/2 cup (per plant) of good organic, acidic fertilizer that has compost, peat, some special evergreen nutirents and dehydrated manure, mixed and spread out, around the base of your bushes. You are going to want to maintain good root coverage, so make note to replace new soil.
4. Pruning boxwood's is relatively straight forward but there are a few rules to live by. Never, never, never prune your boxwoods late in the fall, and, always, always, always be sure to let new spring growth "harden off" before you go out give'em that first "hair cut" of the year. If you didn't know, pruning in the fall promotes new and tender sprigs to grow that are going to brown in the spring. This will cause a dead look for several months before new growth comes in so your best not to do it. People enjoy beautiful bright green boxwoods in the winter and will really frown down on the dead brown. Better they be a little shaggy than dead looking.
5. A shallow root system on boxwoods usually leads to your green beauties dying out rather quickly. So don't forget to do the mulching on your boxwoods. This is going to help the boxes roots to retain the water they do get and protect them. The flip side of this is to be careful not to over mulch them to the point where you have buried the base of the plant and you end up creating a rotten bark situation that could ultimately kill the bush. All things in moderation is always a good rule to live by in the garden.
6.Periodically do a check of your boxes for fungal type diseases. While they are generally vigorous they can fall victim to few problems. Do some reading up on your boxwoods if you have suspicion that the problem is more than simply winter damage. Most diseases can be easily cured with a fungicide spray or an oil soap spray depending on what you are dealing with: mold or insect. For heavens sake (and the planets') figure out the core issue prior to getting our the chemicals. This is not always as easy as it sounds, but you might have to just dig out the shrub that is causing you the issues before it gets worse. Fortuantly having to replace just one plant isn't a huge deal, but when it comes to larger problems and replacing a whole hedge your in for some bucks.
Best of luck to you during this and I hope you enjoy the wonderful evergreen of the boxwoods in your landscaping...boxwoods are really a wonderful choice.

Where can I find information on sound reinforcement systems?
Need to do research for a paper on sound reinforcement systems. Anyone know of decent websites that would give me information on: stacked systems, line-array systems, distributed systems, and 100V line systems?
Thanks.
Research? I've worked in the field and couldn't tell you all there is to know about it. So I used Google to search for "Sound Reinforcement Systems" and found that there are lots of books on the subject. It also provided a link to Wikipedia, which I realize is not all-inclusive. But it does give a pretty decent summary AND it also provides references, links, and additional information about books and papers on the subject.
