There are seven basic chords that are played on an acoustic guitar. But each of these chords has a lot of different variants which can be very confusing for someone who is still starting to learn. These seven chords must be memorized as a start for learning the acoustic guitar. There are certain cords for certain music genres. It is best if you focus on learning first the chords of the particular genre you are interested to play in.
The second most important thing to learn is chord progression. Chord progression means easily switching from one chord to another. Though, it's not as simple as it sounds, infact this one of the most diificult thing to learn when playing the guitar. A simple way to master chord progression is to first memorize the chords of your favorite songs. Master the chord of a song of your choice which can be played on an acoustic guitar. After this, using the chords only, start playing the acoustic guitar together with the song. You can graduate to strumming after you have mastered the chord progression for that particular song.
Strumming, also known as finger-pick, is played by the right hand (if you are right handed). Every finger, except for the little finger has a string assigned to it. The top three strings belong to the thumb. These are the bass strings, or the strings that create the lowest sound. The index finger is used for the fourth string, the middle finger for the fifth and the ring finger is assigned to the sixth string.
It takes a lot of practice to learn how to play the acoustic guitar. Aside from the tips mentioned above, there are actually still a lot of things that you have to learn to perfectly play the acoustic guitar. How do you set up guitar hero?
Yeah, I understand how much of an idea I sound, but I honestly don't get it lol. I got guitar hero for Christmas and I tried playing it. But whenever I pick a person to play, it won't let me actually play a song. How do you do that? Also, I don't have a microphone, drums, or anything like that. I only have a guitar/bass right now. How exactly do I play this game? I'm so confused and frusterated lol

what it keeps saying is that i need to connect a microphone, and i don't have one :X
What you do is you either go to career mode(which i would suggest since you need to unlock more songs) or quickplay and choose a character and difficulty and when it takes you to the song menu, select a song and press the start button. This should take you right into play.
