Try this easy-to-use web-based service software which could get you to erase the whiteboard for good. Aimed at helping small, medium, and large field service businesses the customizable solutions include capabilities to facilitate customer relationship management and job scheduling, dispatching, tracking, billing and invoicing, entirely through the Internet.
The program enables scheduling of emergency, one-time, multi-visit or recurring jobs with drag and drop appointments. Management can schedule by viewing the availability of an individual field technician or sales rep or by an available date and time on the calendar.
Diverse calendar views support viewing of schedules for individual field resources, crews, or the entire company by day, 5-day and 7-day weeks, and month. A color coded calendar allows users to identify assigned employees, vendors, location zones, and job status at a glance, which can be an aid in fitting in additional work. Users can schedule recurring appointments daily, weekly, monthly or yearly. The application integrates with Google Maps for easy viewing and printing of driving directions to customer locations.
If a technician in the field carries a mobile phone or PDA connected to the internet, a scheduler can send a text message alert of any new or updated job appointment and the technician can, in turn, update real time information, including labor hours and job costs, from the field or from home. (In addition, as appropriate, Internet-enabled technicians and sales reps in the field can create a job estimate onsite, during a service call.)
Customer relationship management capabilities include contacts, locations, and job history details (labor hours, expenses, and materials, equipment, and notes).
Accounting features include the ability to create invoices upon completion or for jobs in progress for partial payment. The billing/invoice history enables users to view details of to-date customer job costs and expenses, open or overdue invoices, customer payments and post-due payments. Transactions can be exported to QuickBooks or other accounting software if preferred.
Equipment tracking - make, model, and serial number and full service history and warranty information - can be attached to a specific job and work order.

Is there any way to make custom color-coded topographic maps?
Without printing them out and tediously painting it by hand?

Look, I already know about topozone and terraserver and the National Map and National Atlas.
I NEED 0-10 ft, 10-20 ft, 20-30 ft ... 140-150 ft, to be in very contrasting colors,
NOT lumping them all into 0-50 meters "low elevation": green
What you're looking for is very hard to find. If you have GIS software like GRASS (originally developed for the U.S. Department of Defense) Then you may be able to find something. Usually the lines are the same or in alternating colors, but I have seen one like what you are asking. If you know a geographer with GRASS or MapServer ask them. You can also go to your area's Department of Agriculture or even a nearby University's geographical science building to find what you are looking for.
